Population Overview

REP Population Overview

The REP links medical records across several providers in Minnesota and Wisconsin to identify unique persons (i.e., a records-linkage system). In particularly, the REP indexes the medical records of virtually all persons who have resided in Olmsted County, Minnesota from 1 Jan 1966 to present. The REP includes 2,383,724 medical records linked to 656,575 persons who lived in Olmsted County at some time from 1 Jan 1966 through 31 Dec 2023.

Beginning in 2014, the REP also includes information for persons living in an expanded 27-County region in Southern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. The enumeration for the additional counties (Olmsted County plus 26 other counties) is provided from 1 Jan 2010 to present. The expanded REP includes 2,945,027 medical records linked to 1,437,382 persons who lived in the 27-County region at some time from 1 Jan 2010 through 31 Dec 2023 (REP Census version 2023 released Sep 2024).

Data below are organized into two sections: 1) Information from the REP Census, and 2) Information from the US Decennial Censuses. Within each section, data are further organized into a) Olmsted County and b) the Expanded 27-County REP Region (including Olmsted County):
