REP Population Overview
The REP links medical records across several providers in Minnesota and Wisconsin to identify unique persons (i.e., a records-linkage system). In particularly, the REP indexes the medical records of virtually all persons who have resided in Olmsted County, Minnesota from 1 Jan 1966 to present. The REP includes 2,305,154 medical records from more than 60 different health care providers linked to 620,013 persons who lived in Olmsted County at some time from 1 Jan 1966 through 31 Dec 2020.
Beginning in 2014, the REP also includes information for persons living in an expanded 27-County region in Southern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. The enumeration for the additional counties (Olmsted County plus 26 other counties) is provided from 1 Jan 2010 to present. The expanded REP includes 2,727,802 medical records linked to 1,295,694 persons who lived in the 27-County region at some time from 1 Jan 2010 through 31 Dec 2020 (updated Sep 2021).
Data below are organized into two sections: 1) Information from the REP Census, and 2) Information from the US Decennial Censuses. Within each section, data are further organized into a) Olmsted County and b) the Expanded 27-County REP Region (including Olmsted County):
